Can I connect a wireless xbox 360 controller to my laptop without buying the wireless game reciever?

I don’t want to buy anything, I just want to connect and play. Since I only have wireless controllers, I connected my controller to the laptop using my play and charge kit and the computer installed the proper drivers automatically but my computer after updating drivers it stopped recognizing it and can’t seem to connect with it or let me use it? Anyone know whats going on?

Nope. The Play and Charge can only transfer power so it will only charge the controller. You need to receiver to pick up the controller’s signal. There’s no way around it.

Today the same type of laptop, but thinner, lighter and lasting longer on a single charge, is available for as little as $399. And there’s even more good news for those interested in buying a lightweight computer at a low price.

Netbooks — popular, affordable mini-laptops with 10-inch screens — are intended primarily for reaching the Internet to check e-mail or Web sites. But in the last year, computer manufacturers have pushed out new laptops with similar attributes. Ok my 16 year old son is the oldest of 3 and well he just seems to be going down hill and fast. He has failed the 9th grade Twice he has no motive for school what so ever. Can data on pc memory cards be totally lost?

I had a laptop Compaq Presario 2200. My now ex husband punched it ( really hard ) twice while I was using it. Totally cracked the screen…so I connected the laptop to another screen and it was still working. Minutes later the computer crashed and rebooted constantly. I took the memory card to several places so at least I could retrieve all my pictures and documents I had. Nobody was able to do it. They said the card was too damaged to retrieve any information. I saw them connecting it to several devices and didnt work. Then I took it to a guy who was able to take 35% of the data. But he said the other folders where too damaged…… I still keep the memory card in hopes that some day i will find someone who will tell me “Yes i can retreive any information no matter what” Its difficult to say even if i take it to a data recovery place.
Any help?

You must be mistaken, all things inside a memory card are wiped out everytime power is not applied to it. Memory card is your RAM. If you’re talking about your hard drive or flash drives, then just search online for programs that can recover all your data. There’s plenty out there. Some you might have to pay for though.

Will A $100 laptop Help The World’s Poor Children?

The chairman and founder of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab recently launched the $100 laptop to the world’s media. Is it necessary?

MIT rolled out a non-profit association, called One Laptop Per Child, to design, manufacture and distribute laptops that will be provided to various governments at cost price and issued to children by participating schools on a basis of one laptop per child. These machines will be rugged, Linux-based and so energy-efficient that hand cranking alone can generate sufficient power for operation.

The internet connectivity question is addressed in a few different ways, including the use of Wi-Fi, WiMax, 3G and satellites, as well as fibre, coaxial cable and plain old telephony. Competition, deregulation and the fact that the developing world is now the only new telecommunications market, will all perhaps contribute to wider reaching availability, greater bandwidth and, most importantly in these countries, lower connectivity costs.

The solution offered is a $100 laptop: a durable, versatile machine at a price the developing world can afford. The fact that this has been achieved is actually a remarkable achievement, the very notion of which until very recently was shunned by industry leaders as impossible.

The strongest argument in favour of this cheap laptop idea rests on the laurel that the greatest assets of a people are its children, and so the highest social priority is on the education of these children. Throughout disease, natural disasters, war and poverty, education features as the primary solution to the problem.

Most educators would argue that effective learning stems from a fundamental level of personal curiosity about a subject, and in a sense the ability to self-teach. The key point here is not so much what each child knows so far, it is rather the perspective that they can bring to bear on a problem. It is well known from case studies that network learning, augmented by technology, computers and Internet connectivity, bears heavy fruit in academic terms.

The economics of a $100 laptop base around the following: Around half the purchase price of a new laptop is taken up by the cost of sales, marketing, distribution, and of course the ever shameless profit-margin. By sidestepping the entire retail market and distributing directly to governments in the absence of profit-driven aims a huge chunk of the price per model is evaporated.

Physically the most expensive aspect would be the display. The use of an MIT technology called E-Ink that offers the potential to be as low as 10 cents per square inch and offer daylight readable clear resolution is promising. The processor, memory and power can be stripped down, as the functionality of the machine need not be so advanced beyond surfing, email and word processing all as open-source, slimmed down software that takes up little computing resources.

It’s now without doubt that the $100 laptop will happen. As to whether it’s a good idea? Everything about says yes, although the sociologists have yet to gather their argument on this one it seems.

Rustling sound on laptop???Please help ?

First guess would be bad speaker/s if it was a little older. Second guess, maybe first guess if you havent been doing a lot of top volume listening, would be that it is some problem in that SoundMax software. You could try to delete and reinstall it, after being sure you CAN. Check your applications disk.

If it was okay when first purchased, do a system restore to an earlier date.

One of my car speakers is making a crackling sound right now. It is because I cranked originally installed speakers up too long. One of the small front speakers couldn’t quite handle it.
