Laptops are Light Weight and Portable

When people talk about laptops, everyone assumes that all laptops are wireless. Traveling with a laptop is easier today than it once was, the laptops have gotten smaller and lighter. The new mobile laptops make computing easy for many people. When purchasing a laptop, make sure a wireless connection is built in so you can reach the internet if you are in a wireless area. The laptop is replacing the big desktop computer; but the mobile computer needs to provide the ability to accept components for expandability. Many people today keep all of the information on their computer, so if the computer goes down many people will not have that data. In today’s modern world the laptop or sometimes called notebook is a must have.

If you do not have a laptop computer yet, you should know that one of the most important aspects of having a laptop computer is having a great power supply. Every laptop computer needs to be equipped with some type of warranty; the laptop should have at least a one year manufacturer warranty. You may even be able to play movies on them with crystal clarity. Purchasing a laptop computer is not an easy job to do because there are so many important things that should be considered before purchasing.

The type of work you do can affect the screen size and type that is most suitable for you. If you are not worried about graphics a screen size of 12-14″ is acceptable. If the work you are doing is graphically intensive than a 15-17″ is better. Screen sizes range from 12 to 19 inches. A laptop computer with smaller screen is great option if you do not plan to use laptop too much.

Going from 256MB of RAM to 512MB of RAM will speed up your laptop. If your needs are somewhat mundane – email, spreadsheets, word processing, etc. 512 MB of RAM should be plenty. RAM is to a computer what location is to real estate.

You also need to think about the hard drive in the laptop you are considering. The hard drive is also a very important specification to consider in buying a laptop. The speed of a hard drive is normally calculated in rotations per minute. A hard drive of about 50 gb or over is a good rule of thumb.

In addition to the processor, you will probably want to upgrade your system with memory, monitor, a graphics card or video card, and pointing device and keyboard. Finding cheap components is easy today due to the internet, many sites have popped up and made all of these components accessible. The important thing to remember when shopping for components is that you need to make sure they are compatible with your system.

Laptop cases are an important computer accessory you should make sure you acquire. They have many sections that accommodate important office documents. Another important type of carrying case is the wheeled roller case. But, their safety and protection is equally important. A laptop case is specially made for carrying a laptop but a backpack is just a bottomless pit. Getting a quality bag is very important since you are carrying around an expensive piece of equipment. Your notebook is going to be at least 6 pounds, probably more. The portability of laptop computers is both a boon to busy business people. Your notebook should be sturdy and rugged. Expensive notebooks should be protected properly.

change the background and name of acer mini laptop?

i have an acer aspire one d260. i cant seem to change my background no matter what. ive tried just about everything i can think of from “set as desktop background” as a right click option on a picture, to going through “my computer”. havent found the option for changing my background or renaming it.
instead of appearance and personalization it only said appearance. doesnt work, and never going to. ugh

The Operating System your using must be Windows 7 Starter

Windows 7 starter doesn’t support changing the desktop background, you have to install a separate program such as Stardock MyColors or Samurize to change the background or upgrade to Windows 7 home premium

Good Luck

Compaq Presario – a User’s Review

Compaq is one of the companies lately that has gained a reputation for offering laptops at prices that are somewhat more affordable for the consumer. And if you are considering a Compaq laptop, a good choice may be the Compaq Presario V2000.

The Compaq Presario V2000 laptop is a lightweight attractive unit that features a great 14.1 inch screen and excellent battery life. It weighs in at only 6.1 pounds and is compact and easy to carry with you. It is worthwhile to spend the extra $25 or so to upgrade to the optional 12-cell battery that lasts almost 6 hours.

This Compaq laptop includes a bright WXGA screen with a resolution of 1280 by 768 pixels. But you will not strain your eyes trying to read the screen, as it displays icons large enough to see and read plus includes an extra inch of width. Though not as tall, it is as wide as a standard 15 inch screen.

The keyboard is responsive to touch and hardly make any noise when the keys are depressed. The V200 also includes a lock button for the touchpad that prevents the cursor from wandering as you input your information. The standard version includes an optical drive, FireWire port, three USB ports, and a convenient six-in-one card reader. The six-in-one card reader makes it really easy to grab data from your camera or PDA.

Speakers are front mounted on this Compaq laptop and have a surprisingly full and robust sound. Volume control is located right at the top of the keyboard.

The hard drive and memory compartments are protected by grooved panels held in by screws, which are clearly identifiable on the bottom of the laptop computer. The computer also includes WiFi access with blue LED status lights that are located on the front.

Even if you do not travel a lot, the Compaq Presario V2000 will make a suitable replacement for your desktop PC, when it is used in conjunction with HP’s Xb2000 expansion base. The base serves as a notebook stand and port replicator and includes built in speakers. It can also accommodate an additional hard drive and includes a wireless keyboard and mouse.

This particular Compaq laptop is perfect for travelers and homebodies alike. But for those on the go, it helps that it is lightweight with an easily readable widescreen and long battery life.

Brenda has user her compaq laptop for some time now, her last compaq laptop was a refurbished laptop. She maintains resources on how to get a free laptop via her free laptops website.

how do i use my laptops 5in1 memory card reader?

mine is a compaq laptop…. wat all mc’s can i use wid it??

Well, since its a five in one you can use atleast the major formats like, SD (Secure Digital) card and MMC. other than that, you may try the Memory stick’s of sony, but since its a built in card reader (I suppose so, you didnt mention it clearly!) it won’t support that, as far as I know. For others like, RS MMC, Mini SD, Micro SD you will have to get an adapter to convert them into the size of an SD. You can get it in any computer shop. I am not sure about compact flash though, if they size permits you may try it, at your own risk!

Wireless Internet Service: So Much More Than it Used to Be

Have you noticed the giant leaps in technology that have happened in just the past two decades? In fact, twenty years ago, the World Wide Web was virtually unheard of, computers were large and bulky, and there was no such thing as wireless Internet access. I just the last two decades, technology has certainly come a long way in all areas, including television, cellular telephones, and computers.

In fact, ask anyone older than twenty-five and they will tell you about the days when cellular phones came in bags and movies were only available on VHS tapes. These days, cell phones fit in jeans pockets and movies are available in 3-D and on DVD.

Technology certainly has changed in the last few decades. Let us take a moment to look at what has happened for the world of the Internet service. Just a few years ago, the only way that you could get online was to wait while your computer modem dialed up and then you had to hope that the connection would hold. In today’s time, connections work at blinding speeds, allowing a person to watch television, download music and play games with cutting edge graphics. Internet services and speeds certainly have changed.

That change can most be seen in mobility options for getting online. Just a few years ago, a person had to sit at a desk, using a computer connected to the wall by a wire. This meant a person had no choice but to stay at that desk for the whole time they wished to stay online. Then, along came the wireless router.

With this small device, a person could connect that wire and then broadcast a signal through their home or office. Now, they are no longer tied to a wire. They can enjoy browsing the net from anywhere within a small range.

However, this is not where the revolution of the wireless Internet stopped. Recently, new mobility options have come about that allow a person to get online from a much larger range. The first selection is called 3G, or third generation. This option makes use of a cellular signal and a small card that is used with a laptop computer. This signal allows a person to use wireless Internet access at dial-up speeds from a larger area.

The second option is 4G, or fourth generation. This option takes the idea of 3G and steps it up a notch. With this option, a person can connect to the Internet at DSL speeds with the same style air card used with a laptop computer. In other words, a user can get online with high-speed service anywhere in their area, and the coverage area depends on the tower locations, but it usually includes a whole city or county range.

Yes, technology certainly has come a long way. Instead of depending on cellular phones the size of two liter soda bottles and television sets that weight forty pounds, we now have pocket sized phones and plasma television. With wireless Internet services, the change is even more obvious.
