Why does my computer freeze at the XP loading page?

I jammed a phone memory stick into the 5-1 card reader of my laptop, then had to pull it out with pliers. I also installed an unsigned printer prior to this. Now my puter only works in safe mode . Is it a faulty driver? Ie. the 5-1 card reader driver? Laptop is an Acer travelmate 3260.

If the computer works in safe mode you are unlikely to have damaged anything on your mother board.
The USB card reader doesn`t need drivers in XP so if it is unplugged it shouldn`t be a problem & is most likely a coincidence & a red herring (Hope that saying is well known other wise you will be saying What the f!).
The Printer is a prime suspect but you can get rid of that in safe mode .
A remote possibility is that you have not being using the stop usb devices in XP before you unplug your reader unlikley but possible.
So remove everything to do with your last hardware installation (printer?) and if that doesn`t sort out the problem use the pause key to monitor the boot screen information & post the error message back here ,that will make the problem a lot eaiser to resolve.

1. Computer hardware reasons.
