How do you replace the keyboard on a Sony Vaio VGN-NW series laptop?

I have looked up online guides for how to replace keyboards on other Sony Vaio laptop models, but they do not seem to apply to the VGN-NW series. Which screws do I need to undo on the back and how do I lift the keyboard off? Thanks!

I am running into the same problem. I am looking at mt VGN-NS135E after much disappointment from Sony Tech Support (I do not recomend them at all and they are still dragging out work that should have been warrenty)
Anyway, long story short, after I recieved it back from Sony ater they said there was evidence of Liquid intrustion, I have found out that they have NEVER opened it up and they take me for a fool.
(I work in the industry and I know their tactics.)
Anyway, The best way I’m finding out how to remove a keyboard from a VIAO Laptop is to set it in your driveway roll over it a few times with your car. Then while your still behind the drivers seat, head down to your local best buy, or other computer source and buy something other than a Sony.
I bought an HP and their srvice has been top notch, (I checked them out due to the lack of tech support and service from Sony) and found their first tier help desk most impressive and knowledgable. If they didn’t know the answer, they immediatly sent you up higher up the food chain until the problem was solved without spending hours on hold.

Can I play GTA IV with my laptop?

My Sony Vaio Laptop (VGN-NR330E) has a Mobile Intel (R) 965 Express Family Chipset. I know it is not powerful enough to play GTA IV. But is there any way I can play without upgrading my video card? If not, how can I change my video card to a one that supports playing GTA IV. And, what kind of video card do you recommend. (would external video cards help?)

I play GTA IV on that video chipset without a problem, although I have slightly more RAM and a better processor.

I’ve never had an issue.

How do I fix my laptop? (Sony Vaio w/ Vista)?

My Sony Vaio Laptop w/ Vista (Only a year old) isn’t working!!

Thankfully, HP still offers some good internal components to help make the ProBook 4710s a solid value.Like any good desktop replacement notebook, the one thing that the ProBook 4710s excels at is being big. Pretty darned big, all things considered; the 17.3-inch LCD screen is large enough to begin with, but HP’s quite generous with the plastic bezel around it, leading to a system that measures in at 41.06x27x3.2cm and weighs in “starting” at 3.08kg. Suffice it to say that you won’t be lugging it very far, and it only counts as a “lap” top if you happen to be Robert Wadlow.

HP pitches the ProBook at the business community, and presumably that part of the business community that eschews striking design aesthetics. Compared to some of HP’s recent designs, like the rather stunning Vivienne Tam Edition HP Minis, the ProBook 4710s almost feels like a throwback machine. It’s black on black with black keys and a black outer casing. This is a system that means business and looks business, but more in an “accountant” style than, say a “Richard Branson” one.

HP sells a number of models under the ProBook line, and the 17.3-inch ProBook 4710s is the current top of the range. For a price starting at AU$1899, you get an Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53GHz processor, 3GB of RAM, a choice of 250GB or 500GB hard drives (our test model had the 500GB version), 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 video, 802.11n networking, Bluetooth and gigabit Ethernet. Four USB ports are provided, which almost feels titchy when you consider that the average netbook carries three and is about a sixth the size. HP does fill some of the space with an HDMI-out port, although frankly this particular laptop’s going to dwarf just about any HDMI-compliant source you choose to plug it into.

By the time you read this the ProBook should come with a Windows 7 upgrade option, but our test unit technically came with Vista Business. We say technically, because the default configuration comes with the downgrade to Windows XP Professional pre-installed. If you’re not a fan of Vista — and we could be churlish and say that nobody is — that’s a solid time saver, but if you required Vista it could be a touch annoying. It also features HP’s Disk Sanitizer software for secure file deletion and the usual trial AV software that virtually any notebook seems to come with whether you ask for it or not — in the ProBook’s case it’s McAfee Total Protection.

The ProBook 4710s keyboard fits a notebook of this size, in that it’s mostly quite large, with a deliberately huge space bar row (including CTRL, the function key and Windows key), which we found mostly pleasant to type with. The only real oddity here is that despite the amount of space on offer — which includes allowing a full number pad — the cursor keys are oddly tiny. They’re not impossible to hit, but they’re solidly out of scale to the rest of the keyboard.

Can you downgrade Vista Basic to Windows XP Professional?

I’ve been trying to install virtual pc on to my new laptop, it has vista basic as its operation system, which doesn’t meet the system requirements of Virtual PC 2007. And it wont let me run Virtual PC 2004 either. I need to downgrade to XP. Windows XP CD wont boot.
ok guys! i changed the boot order. It let me into the setup. I only got to the part when it asked to install a fresh copy of windows, i pressed enter. The next page said “setup did not find any hard disk drivers installed in your computer”
Do I need to configure my hard drive disk in BIOS setup?
I have a laptop, it’s a Toshiba Satellite L45-S7409. Thanks for the help guys.

There are 2 issues here.
1- Booting from Windows CD
2- Compatibility

1: Check your BIOS to make sure it boots from the CD first rather from the hard disk

2- Compatibility is a serious issue. Many if not most new laptops do not support Win XP. Although you may be able to install XP, you will not find the XP drivers needed for such things as Lan / Modem / Screen / graphics / etc.
You should check the laptop manufacturers website to find out if you can download XP drivers specific to your make and model.

In Dell Studio 1555 laptop,there is no DVD tray, and windows is corrupted,DVD is inside the Rom, how can i get?
