Has anyone else tried the new Yahoo mail on an Apple Mac?
I have tried using the new Yahoo mail on my Apple Macintosh iBook G4 laptop, but found that it was so slow and processor hungry (it maxed it out) that I had to switch back. I also tried it on a dual core G5 and had the same problem – there were no other applications running on either machine.
I emailed Yahoo about this, stating clearly that I was using an APPLE MACINTOSH computer (like that), and they responded with answers for a windows machine. When I replied and said I was on an Apple Mac, again I got answers for a windows machine. So I have had no sensible answer.
Has anyone else had this problem?
I run a new Macbook and also find Yahoo! Mail Beta often painfully slow. This is direct from the Yahoo! Mail team, as of April 2006:
“Mac launch performance is a story unto itself. It goes like this: Once upon a time…we knew we had a ways to go optimizing the Beta for the Mac. So we set to work on it. And we’re working on it now! The End.”
But more importantly, this nasty problem isn’t afflicting only Mac users:
“Unless it has vastly improved over the last month or so, I’d still stay away. I barely have any real mail in my Yahoo mail account, but this beta was almost unusable. It often killed the browser, but when it didn’t it was so, so slow. I switched back to the old-style Yahoo mail.”
“I’ve been using the y-mail beta for a few months now, and am actually ready to move away from it (especially now that they are getting rid of the Y+ accounts). I agree that it runs too slow, takes forever to start up, and i would say that 1/5 times it crashes firefox on me when it trys to start.”
“Don’t bother. I used it for two months and finally switched back. It’s agonizingly slow and thus completely unworkable. I’m frankly amazed to see ANY positive comments.”
Here are some things that various websites suggest trying:
+ Try a different browser. Safari and Firefox are apparently having problems. Internet Explorer users seem to have more luck. That’ll mean sacrificing a superior browser, however.
+ Don’t use the new mail beta. Go back to the old one until Yahoo! gets its act together.
+ Try using a third-party email program, like Mail (in Mac) or Thunderbird (from Mozilla). You can set it up to stream your Yahoo! mail in.
+ Get a Gmail account, which I’ve always found quite fast, clean and has many similar functions to Yahoo! Mail.
+ Try running Yahoo! Mail on a Windows computer and see if there’s a marked difference.
+ Send Yahoo! the following:
“Hi. I run Macintosh. My problem is that the new Yahoo Mail is very slow. Too slow in fact. I want tips on what can be done, or if the Yahoo! Mail team is working on this. This problem may be specific to Mac users, or it may not. Please remember that I do NOT run Windows. Please do not send me advice for a PC. I do not own or run a PC. That will not help. I am not going to buy a PC just so that I’ll get the appropriate advice. I need advice for a Macintosh. If you could send me information about speeding up the new Yahoo! Mail on a Mac computer, I would really appreciate it. Mac mac mac.”

How do I reinstall my old hard drive in my Dell Inspiron 9300 Laptop?

Now on your Vista configure LAN card like this…
IP Adress: 192.168.2.2
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.2.1 ( Same as IP Adress of Laptop)
Try to figure out one more thing… that is WORKGROUP… configure same WORKGROUP on both machins.
One more thing at last… May be you have to Enable Internet Connection Sharing service in Laptop…
