How to extend the Dell Latitude D610 battery life span
Most laptop batteries are based wwith Lithium-ion, which should give you between 300-500 charge/discharge cycles. This type of battery doesn’t like full discharges and should be avoided when-ever possible. The technology is still being enhanced and should continue to be the battery of choice for laptop manufactures in the future. Elevated temperatures seem to have an adverse effect on this batteries life. Lithium-ion battery manufactures believe that a typical life span should be somewhere between 2 to 3 years. Most lithium-ion batteries fail because of exposure to excessive heat rather than the charge/discharge habits of the user.
So, many laptop users compains that the laptop battery life is too short and the price of it is so high. People often ask what should be done to extend the battery life? You can save the life of your laptop battery by using a few simple methods. Laptop computer batteries are often too expensive, and most of the time – you could have saved your old battery. So, instead of wasting the life of your battery – preserve it and make it last longer! Take my Dell laptop battery as an example, I bought it four years ago and the Dell Latitude D610 battery(http://www.papatek.com/Dell-Battery/Dell-Latitude-D610-battery.html) still can power for two hours with full charged. In the daily life, the following four things are must to preserve the toshiba battery life.
One way to save the life of your laptop battery is to use the laptop power cord instead of the battery. Many people have no clue that you can actually take out your laptop battery and just use the power cord to access your computer while your sitting at home near an outlet. By doing this, you’re saving the battery from ever using one bit of power. Think of how much time you spend sitting on the couch at home with your laptop – plug it in!
Step 2 Another tip is to make sure you set your laptop’s hibernation mode on. Use the “engery saving” option for maximum power results. Also, reducing the brightness of your screen can save your short-term battery life when it’s not plugged into an outlet.
Step 3 Many people don’t consider is that once you have charged your battery in your laptop – plug the cord from the outlet. Sometimes, batteries will get overheated and overcharged. When that happens, it might cause it to burn out faster. Not to mention, the voltage your laptop is getting can cause your motherboard to overheat.
Step 4 When you are relying on your battery alone, try to run one application at a time, and try not to use devices like USB cards or Bluetooth devices. Why? Because this will drain your battery in a matter of minutes rather than hours.
