To his credit, the phone rep immediately acknowledged that my line of thinking was reasonable, spoke to a supervisor, and was able to authorize the early replacement.

Physically, this item is nearly identical to the Dell branded battery. There are no quality issues at all. It does have the dell latitude d820 battery meter on the bottom, just like the original one. Since my Dell unit crapped out after 18mo, I can’t do any side by side comparisons, but I think the original unit had a bit more capacity. I recall getting 4 hours on my D620 running Fedora Linux (thought that was for maybe the first couple months). This unit is maybe 3-3.5 but again, I haven’t really done any scientific tests. It could be that I’m just harder on the battery now than I was then. Either way, it’s a steal at roughly 1/3 the cost of the Dell unit.

It’s been almost a year of regular use and I still have more than 3 hours of dell latitude d620 battery life! Had 4-5 hours when it arrived and that lasted for several months. Only downside, for some reason, after 25% use it thinks it’s out of juice and it turns my computer off. But, my computer turns right back on without problem. Also, it doesn’t exactly fit flush, but it’s still better than the battery dell sent me with this laptop. GREAT PRODUCT!

I am running Vista Home Prem, Dell Inspiron 1501 Notebook. I shut it down, and then I store it in my case. Somewhere during my trip home, the computer turns itsself on, because when I retrieve it from my case…it is warm, the red battery indicator is blinking, and it is active. When I open the Lid, it tells me Windows recovered from a shutdown.

I got the mini 10 w Ubuntu. Cheap, fast, more than enough for what I got it for (casual browsing on the road).

No CD drive, but it does have a memory card slot and USB ports. Not sure the standard on the memory card slot, but I’m sure dell’s site has more info.

I have a Dell 1320c laser printer and cannot print WordPerfect files. Help!!?

I have a Dell 1320c laser printer here at work, and I love it except for it will NOT print WordPerfect files. I work at a bit of an old-fashoined place, and while I do use Word when I can, mostly everyone else here uses various versions of Corel WordPerfect. (I myself run WP version 12.) If I need to print something that is in WP format, I generally just convert it to a PDF, which prints just fine except if there is any leftover formating, like an underline was left in but text was deleted–it shows a line in the PDF version. We don’t have an IT staff, and the few computer techs that have been here can’t seem to find the problem. I have looked on Dell.com and Corel.com and I can’t seem to find any fixes. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your help!!!
